Lens-Artists Challenge #299 – Hopeful

There is always a promise of hope, you just need to know where to look.

This week Patti brings us a thought provoking challenge Hopeful. In her post, she inspires us to define what hopeful looks like to us. Trust me...with her inspiration, you will begin to see hope right in front of your eyes. Thank goodness.

We can all use a little of that right now.

Hope is never a plan. My impressions take me to the burnt remains from a wildfire, and a meadow that has since rejuvenated itself. I know, the forest will take time, but nature knows how to do what it needs to do. Heal. Interestingly enough, the renewal starts with wildflowers. And while we might think them pretty, they also define hope in the face of adversity.

Hope is seeing the light.

Just. Keep. Moving. Forward.

Hope can teach us patience. Will the next wave be the one? Maybe, maybe not. What we do know is there is an endless supply on the horizon. And even then, the size, intensity, or duration of what we face is unknown. I just hope when it arrives, you too, will be ready to rise to the occasion.

Honestly, sometimes I wonder if hope is just wishful thinking, or a silly waste of time. I know better. Hope is something we reach for, with faith, to make whatever it is, happen. Fingers crossed you don’t need to hear the words on the shirt below. Then again, we all have those days, don’t we?

Finally, how about some Hope Cakes? They were inspired by the book, Mad Honey.  It is controversial, disturbing, and will make you mad, but I like things that make me think and Jodi Picoult is a favorite author. I stuck with it, because the entire book is symbolic of hope in ways you can’t begin to conjure up. Yes, there is always hope…and cake.

Bake in oven for 40 minutes, or until an impossible thing comes true.  Whichever comes first.Picoult

What does hopeful mean to you? Do you have any stories, or people in your life that brought you hope? Visit Patti for inspiring ideas and a hopeful mindset. Remember to use the Lens-Artists tag and link your post to her comment section. Last week Tina took us back: To Be Young Again. I think if I could take away one word from the week it would be, tenderness. We saw children around the world, people who never grew up, and babies animals in local parks. No shortage of love in any of the posts. Next week, Ann-Christine will inspire us with some more surprises, maybe from her recent travels. It will be nice to have her back. Don’t miss it. Saturday 12:00 EST.

PS: I can’t resist…Hopefully, I won’t have to wait too long for him to search for his ball.    A birdie is waiting for me.
